Prohibition of driving experimental order: Ellesmere Port - Civic Way (decision notice)
|Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council has decided to give public notice of an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order to facilitate the operation of a bus interchange on Civic Way, Ellesmere Port.|
Reasons for the decision
The Order is required in order to accommodate a new bus interchange on Civic Way, Ellesmere Port.
It has been determined to proceed by means of experiment due to preconstruction traffic modelling suggesting the surrounding highway network may become congested. The experiment will allow the Council to monitor and analysis the traffic conditions in the area following the opening of the new bus interchange.
A prohibition of driving (except buses) restriction will also allow the bus interchange to look and feel like a buses destination and will operate more safely for user and pedestrians should only buses by permitted to enter the area.
Should the operation of the bus interchange be determined successful and the surrounding road network not suffer from congestion issues during the experimental phase then the Order should be made permanent.
The proposals and their extents are as detailed on the approved plan;
