Building works at Blacon crematorium start this week (2 March) to improve ventilation and make sure the temperature can be consistently controlled in the building.
Councillor Karen Shore, Cabinet Member Environment, said: “The provision of services for residents is our highest priority. The work has been scheduled so that cremation services can be offered as usual for most of the time.
“There will be a small number of occasions when the cremation services offered will be slightly reduced. To allow for safe working, it will be necessary to have scaffolding in place for around four weeks. The crematorium team will work with local Funeral Directors to minimise the impact for families. The building contractor has experience of working in similar circumstances and is very aware of the sensitivities of this site.”
Residents have been informed about the works that are expected to be completed by the end of May.
