Residents‘ views and ideas are invited on a new community assets framework

5 December 2017

Residents are being urged to share their views and help the Council create a framework which will ensure community buildings and provision meet the needs of the people they serve.
A consultation has been launched yesterday (Monday, 4 December) on the Council’s draft community assets framework document – which will ultimately look at libraries, community centres, public conveniences, parks and play areas.
The Council is dedicated to ensuring that its community assets are well managed, offer better and cost effective services for communities and support work with partners like health services.
The framework will ensure that the right services are available in the right locations, based on local need, and will also help to identify facilities that are no longer offering the best service for residents, and where residents feel a facility may be better managed by them.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Cabinet Member for Communities and Wellbeing said: “Community assets are of huge value to our residents and we want to ensure that they are of the highest standard they can be and serving the needs of the local community.
“This consultation is an opportunity for everyone to let us know what they think about our framework – which will be used to review our community assets and make sure they continue to be fit for purpose. We would love to hear your ideas.” The consultation will take place over a 12 week period starting from today, 4 December 2017 and closing on Sunday, 25 February 2018.
Residents are encouraged to get involved in the following ways:
A number of drop-in events are also taking place across the borough for residents to share their views. Further details of these events can be found on our website:
