scam Warning:  Email Scams. General information
Scam emails may be sent out thousands or hundreds of thousands of times. The scammers only need a tiny percentage of the people who receive the email to respond, to make it worth their while.
Some  hallmark signs that an email may be a scam, its:
The email address of the sender may be a account or similar, not a government or Authority  email account
Addressed ‘Dear Friend’ as it’s a generic email, not personal to the recipient
Allegedly from a government or authority
The email may stress that it is urgent, placing an emphasis on the recipient to respond quickly
It may offer  free money
They want vast quantity of your personal details
You will have to pay a fee upfront
The account of why the recipient is receiving the email makes little sense
