Break ins and Bicycle thefts

Alert message sent 03/10/2019 08:34:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Good Morning,

From the end of August and throughout September we have noticed an increase in the number of shed/garage break ins across South Warrington. The primary target being bikes.

We would always encourage residents to take proactive steps to prevent themselves becoming a victim and to deter offenders.

Some options may be:

- A motion detecting floodlight.
- Shed/garage Alarm, or incorporating sheds and garages into existing house alarms, and ensuring alarms are activated particularly overnight.
- Ensuring access to garages/sheds such as a gate/ginnel are well secured and locked. And checking these are locked when they are not in use particularly overnight.
- Ensuring all garage/shed doors are properly secured with a substantial lock, and checking that Garages/sheds are locked and secure particularly at night.

If you notice any suspicous activity please report this via 101, if there is a break in currrently in progress please call 999.
