Appeal for information following attempted pub robbery in Ellesmere Port
Detectives investigating an attempted robbery in Ellesmere Port are appealing for information from the public regarding the incident on New Year’s Eve.

At approximately 12.05am on Monday 31 December staff were locking up The Gunners Arms on Thornton Road. As they left the pub via the back door they were accosted by two men wearing dark face coverings. The men attempted to usher them back into the pub but they managed to run away to the car park at the rear of the premises. The offenders, one of whom was carrying a hammer, then fled on mountain bikes in the direction of Croft Court. They were both wearing all dark clothing including hooded jackets with the hoods up. One of the men, who spoke with a local accent, is described as around 6’ tall with a large build. He was wearing black cotton gloves and was carrying a black shoulder bag. The other man was slightly shorter and had a slimmer build.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with information that may help their investigation to come forward. They also want to hear from anyone who believes they may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the offenders. Detective Constable Kevin Hole said: “This was a terrifying incident for the members of staff that has understandably left them shaken up. We are determined to catch the offenders and make them face the consequences of their actions and I urge anyone with information that may aid our ongoing investigation to get in touch. If you were in the area around the time the incident occurred and witnessed anything that may be of help please come forward. The same goes for anyone who believes they may know who the offenders are or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them.”

CCTV images released following motorbike theft in Warrington

At around 3.45am on Thursday 27 December a motorbike was stolen on Barrow Hall Lane in Great Sankey. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and officers believe that the men in the CCTV images may be able to help with their investigation. They are urging anyone who recognises them or has information regarding their identities to come forward.

Sergeant Paul Flynn said: “We believe the men in the CCTV images may have important information to help with our ongoing investigation into the theft of a motorbike in Great Sankey, Warrington.  If you think you recognise them or know who they are please call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting IML 279699, give us the details via https://cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Appeal for information after two boys are injured in a collision in Tarvin
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after two 14-year-old boys were injured in a collision with a car in Tarvin.

The collision between the teenage pedestrians and a white BMW occurred on Tarporley Road at its junction with Sandford Drive at around 3.15pm on Wednesday 2 January. One of the boys, who is from Willington, sustained a serious leg injury and is currently in hospital receiving treatment. The other boy, who is from Duddon, sustained a minor leg injury and did not require hospital treatment. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything that may aid their investigation to get in touch. They are also keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have dashcam or CCTV footage that may help them establish the exact circumstances of what took place.
Detective Sergeant Stuart Needham said: “Two 14-year-old boys sustained leg injuries in the incident, one of which is a serious injury that is currently being treated in hospital. We are determined to establish exactly what happened and I urge anyone who witnessed the incident or anything else that may help our investigation to contact the team here at Chester. The same goes for anyone who believes they have dashcam or CCTV footage that may be relevant to the investigation.”

A 24-year-old woman from Tarvin was arrested on suspicion of a Section 18 assault and failing to stop following a collision in relation to the incident. She has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Witness appeal following burglary at a flat in Crewe
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a burglary at a flat in Crewe.

Between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Friday 28 December a first floor flat was broken into on West Street. No-one was in the flat at the time and a quantity of cash was stolen. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with any information or CCTV or dashcam footage that may aid their investigation to get in touch.

Detective Constable Ruth Thomas said: “Burglary is a serious crime and we are determined to catch whoever was responsible and make them face the consequences of their actions. As part of our investigation we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around that time and witnessed anything suspicious. We also want to hear from anyone who believes they may know who carried out the burglary or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them.”

Appeal for information after robbers target Winwick bakery
Warrington CID are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a robbery at a bakery in Poplars & Hulme.

At around 6.15pm on Wednesday 2 December two unknown men entered Greggs bakery, off Sandy Lane West, Warrington. One of the men then approached the counter and threatened two members of staff, demanding that the safe. The staff members were then led to the back officer where they were forced to open the safe. The two offenders then took all of the cash out of the safe and fled the scene. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with information that may help their investigation to come forward. They also want to hear from anyone who believes they may have dashcam footage of the offenders.

Detective Constable Maggie Cassidy said: “While no weapons were used the victims have been left extremely shaken and we are committed to doing all that we can to trace the people responsible and bring them to justice. The bakery is located a busy retail park and is also next to a major junction on the A49 and I believe that there will have been a number of people in the area at the time of the incident who may be able to assist with our investigation. If you were in the area around the time the incident occurred and witnessed anything that may be of help please come forward. The same goes for anyone who believes they may know who the offenders are or have dashcam footage of them.”

Appeal for witnesses following fatal collision near Crewe
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 58-year-old woman died following to a collision near Crewe.

Shortly before 10pm on Thursday 3 January officers were called to reports of a collision on the A500 at Barthomley. Officers attended the scene and found there had been a collision between a grey Kia and a blue tractor. Sadly the driver of the car - a 58-year-old local woman - died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The driver of the tractor was uninjured.  Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information or dashcam footage which may aid the investigation.

Investigation continues following serious assault in Nantwich
Officers investigating a serious assault at a nightclub in Nantwich are continuing with their enquiries.

The incident occurred at Nakatcha on Welsh Row shortly after 2am on Thursday 27 December 2018. During the incident four men – three aged 22 and one aged 24 – were assaulted by a group of males. The victims sustained a number of injuries and were taken to Leighton Hospital for treatment. All of the men have since been discharged. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with information that may help their investigation to come forward.

Detective Inspector Claire Jesson said: “This was a serious incident and we are committed to doing all that we can to trace the people responsible and bring them to justice. Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are currently examining a large amount of CCTV footage from the nightclub and speaking to a number of witnesses who have come forward. I urge anyone with any information which may assist our investigation to contact the team here at Crewe on 101, quoting IML 279517. Information can also be given online at

A 20-year-old man from Crewe was arrested on Friday 28 December on suspicion of assault in relation to the incident. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Family pay tribute to woman who died in Chelford Road collisionhttps://www.cheshire.police.uk/media/198645/alex.jpg?width=280
The family of a young woman who died in a collision on the A537 on Chelford Road near Henbury have paid tribute to her.

The collision occurred at 1.39pm on 3 January and involved a bus and a red Ford KA. Sadly, the driver of the car, Alexandra Ross, 22, from Macclesfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. The family are being supported by specialist officers. Five passengers on the bus were treated for minor injuries.
Alex’s family said: “Alex was our beautiful kind daughter, a loved sister and granddaughter. We are all heartbroken. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be truly missed.”

Alex’s sister, Bethany, added: “Not only my sister but my soul mate. I was so lucky to be a part of Alex’s life and she will go on with me for the rest of mine in spirit.”
