Burglaries - Basic security will help you to help us

Alert message sent 05/01/2019 12:57:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Hi there,
we are hoping you had a nice time over the festive period. Unfortunately for a number of families theirs has been ruined because of burglaries.  We have had at least three burglaries around the Heath View Road and close areas.  We suspect these are connected due to similar methods used.  Please be vigilant and call the police on 101  (on 999 if necessary*) if you see or hear anything suspicious.

Some simple home security advice will always help reduce the chances of becoming a burglary victim so please take the time to check :

Windows - ensure they are shut and locked especially at night and when you are not at home.

Alarms - if fitted check they are in good working order  and set.

Security Lighting - Fit motion sensor lighting externally and utilise timers on indoor lights.

Front Door and letterbox - Don't leave keys on display, use door chains,   Be aware of visitors.

Vehicles - Ensure all vehicles are locked and items of value removed or out of sight.

Refuse and Recycling bins - Keep bins away from walls where they can be used as a step over fences. Remove personal information from presents, letters and parcels being thrown away.

Garden Gates and Fences - Use strong fencing or gates and or thorny hedges - remembering not to obscure the front of your home from burglars.

Sheds - Put all tools away so they cannot be used to break into your house and consider anchoring heavy and expensive items such as bikes, lawn mowers etc to the floor to make it difficult for them to be stolen.

999 For emergencies

Telephone number 101 to report less urgent crime and disorder, to contact the police with general enquiries or to speak to a local officer, if your car has been stolen, property damaged, minor traffic collisions, drug use or dealing and giving the police information about crime in your area

If you have any information on the above burglaries or any other crimes and you wish to remain anonymous please call free of charge to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
