Bogus caller Alert

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary


There have been reports of a bogus council worker in the Halton Village area . He states he is from the Council and does gardening worker and asks for payment. He is described as a white male, 5'7, late 40s , large build with pot belly, wearing a cap, orange hi- viz jacket with Irish accent .He said the resident owed him £25.00 for doing work in the garden. He said he was from the council, and demanded payment for the work . No vehicle was seen . The council will never ask for payment for work at the doorstep . Can all residents be aware of this scam and report an similar suspicious incidents either by 101 or to Runcorn Police . Can we also ask that you keep an eye on elderly neighbours who may fall foul this scam.
