News Bulletin

Daresbury local Policing Unit (Moore, Sandymoor, Preston Brook, Daresbury, Windmill Hill)

April 2018

Crime

Theft – 7 incidents all unrelated including 3 from employer.

Criminal damage – 2

Suspicious activity – 6, 3 of which were all in order

Concern for safety – 5, 1 of which was all in order

Anti-Social Behavior

We have received reports of youths gathering by the wooded area at the end of Calmington Lane and it is suggested that they are blatantly smoking cannabis. We have also been made aware that numerous items have been found in the underpass by Rudheath Lane indicative of drug misuse. These areas are being regularly visited by both PCSO’s and Beat Managers in an effort to identify those responsible.

There have also been a number of reports regarding Off-Road Motorcycles causing noise nuisance in the Runcorn Road and Moss Lane areas of Moore Village. There has been a concerted effort by PCSO’S and Beat Managers to attend these areas with a view to locating and dealing with those responsible. There will be ongoing visits to these areas to try to tackle this issue.

Roads Policing

It has recently been identified that Northwich Road, near to the Tunnel Top Public House, Runcorn Road, Pitts Heath Lane and the Daresbury Expressway have ongoing issues with speeding motorists.

To combat this, both PCSO’s and Beat Managers have attended these locations with ‘Speed Enforcement’ equipment. It has been established that speeding is an issue for these routes and the vast majority of those motorists stopped by the Beat Manager were local to the area. Of interest, 11 motorists were found to be speeding on Northwich Road alone in a 40 minute period. On Runcorn Road there were 2 in 30 minutes. Clearly this is unacceptable and there will be continued speed enforcement for the areas and those responsible will be prosecuted.

Parking issues have been highlighted on Runcorn road which were subsequently dealt with by way of fixed penalty notice.

Schools in the area are regularly visited by the local PCSO to assist with parking issues etc.

Police Surgeries – There are now Weekly Police Surgeries being held at a number of locations in the area and the dates/times/locations for each Surgery will be arranged over the coming weeks. We are hoping that it will give members of the community we serve an opportunity to meet their local PCSO & Beat Manager face to face in order to raise any issues affecting the local community or individuals therein.

Parish Council Meetings are also attended to discuss any Policing issues.
