Cold Callers again - Gold for sale

Alert message sent 21/10/2017 16:07:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Hello readers, I hope you are well and looking forward to the festive period.

Before this we have two or three points to raise awareness or remind you of.

1)  We have had person/s cold calling to addresses - the occupants of which were elderly - asking if the residents had any gold to sell.  A wad of money was reportedly shown or waved by the cold caller so as, perhaps, to entice the person to make a deal or to make it appear that others had sold gold to them.  PLEASE DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THESE PEOPLE.
If you do happen to answer the door then make it clear that there wont be anything bought or sold today or in the future and ask them not to return.
Please call us straight away telling us where you are and anything about the caller/s description or any vehicles etc.

2)  With the run up to so called "mischief" night October 30th and onto Halloween and Bonfire nights please report ANY incidents of egg throwing, fireworks being thrown or any other activity you feel would be distressing for somebody.  We will have additional resources on duty and want you to feel safe whether you are out in a vehicle, on foot or in your own or another persons home address.

3)  As the evenings will no doubt be getting colder, foggier and perhaps frosty please DO NOT leave any vehicles unattended while defrosting them - NO MATTER where they are.  If you vehicle is subsequently stolen your insurance company could state you were at least partially responsible and it is also illegal.

Finally please do look out for each other. Look out especially for people who may be vulnerable due to age, disabilities or health issues.  Remember we are only a phone call away 24/7 -
Telephone 101 for routine calls and 999 for emergency calls.
Thank You
Stephen Marnick
