Council shows its support for Reserves Day 2016

30 August 2016

Visitors to Chester can help celebrate the work of those who give up their spare time to serve their country during Reserves Day on 8 September.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has invited representatives of the Reserve and Cadet Forces from across the borough to showcase what they do with displays in the city centre throughout the day.

Councillor Reggie Jones, Armed Forces Member Champion, said: “The Reserve Forces currently make up around one sixth of our Armed Forces personnel and the aim is to increase the Army Reserve to a quarter of the UK’s Land Forces by 2020. As such, they are integral to protecting the nation’s security at home and overseas.

“Cheshire West and Chester Council is proud to support all our Armed Forces and was recognised in 2015 by the presentation of the Public Sector Employer Award in the North West Armed Forces Business Awards for our commitment to supporting members of the Armed Forces and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.

“I hope residents and visitors alike will make the most of this opportunity on Reserves Day to find out more about being a Reservist and the advantages it can bring to you and your workplace.”
