Works to Donkey Stand, Parkgate

26 January 2016

Cheshire West and Chester Council has organised repairs to take place at the Donkey Stand, Parkgate during February and March. The works, which will start on Monday, 15 February, will last three weeks.

Environmental improvements were made to the Donkey Stand in November 2013. These improvements included new paving stones, benches and litter bins as well as improved information boards.

Late last year, as part of the council’s routine inspection, officers noticed that some of the paving stones were beginning to break up. This should not have happened so a decision was taken to request the relaying of all the landscaping by the original supplier of the paving.

Cllr Martin Barker, said: “We believe the paving stones were sub-standard and have successfully negotiated the replacement of the stones at no cost to the council.

“It is important that these paving stones are replaced to maintain the quality environment of Parkgate.”
