Private landlords across West Cheshire are invited to a Landlord Forum on 12 May
20 April 2016Private landlords across West Cheshire are invited to attend a Landlord Forum on Thursday, 12 May, in Ellesmere Port.
The Private Landlord Forum supported by Cheshire West and Chester Council and the National Landlords Association will take place between 3.30pm and 7pm at the Civic Hall, Civic Way.
This is the first Landlord Forum of 2016 and it promises to be informative, as well provide an opportunity for landlords to network and visit the exhibitor stands.
Councillor Angela Claydon, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “As a Council we recognise the importance the private rented sector plays in helping to meet the housing needs of our residents. We want to actively engage with the sector and the Landlord Forum provides us with an ideal opportunity to help promote a sustainable private rented sector.
“The Landlord Forum will feature a series of presentations that will not only help to keep landlords updated on current best practice and provide landlords with advice and support, but will also help stimulate debate about the latest issues affecting the sector.”
As part of the event, the NLA will be highlighting key legislative changes to include the Deregulation Act 2015 & the new Section 21 form 6a, and the new procedures landlords have to follow when starting a new tenancy.
Councillor Claydon added: “The event will also see the Council`s Housing Policy and Strategy Team present its vision for the sector for the next two years. There will also be information stands and experts on hand to discuss topics such as landlord accreditation, empty homes, energy efficiency, mould and damp prevention and cure specialists.”
Just before the Forum, there will be two free workshops on the Right to Rent legislation and the checks that landlords must complete for their tenants, as well as an update on the latest Welfare Benefits changes affecting the sector and the help available for tenants.
