Residents and council teams spring into action to plant bulbs

23 November 2016

Ledsham will have a splash of colour come spring time, after Ledsham and Manor Action Group and Cheshire West and Chester Council teamed up to plant around 5000 daffodil bulbs.

Staff from the Council’s Streetscene and Localities Teams joined local residents in a community bulb-planting day.

The bulbs were planted in Ledsham Road, with the help of the PALS Group (Positive Action for Little Sutton) during the event organised by local resident, Graham Penness.

Planting was made easier as the volunteers and officers were blessed with glorious winter sunshine.

The ward councillor for Ledsham and Manor, Councillor Peter Rooney, who is also the current Mayor of Ellesmere Port, provided funds to purchase the bulbs and joined in on the day too. The Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Councillor Karen Shore said: “I’m delighted that Council officers were able to work in partnership with local residents and groups to make Ledsham blooming marvellous. I look forward to seeing the wonderful display of flowers they’ve created in the spring.” Graham Penness, Chairman of Ledsham and Manor Action Group added: “May I add my personal thanks and those of local residents to everyone for a great team effort - it was really appreciated.  Here's to more similar co-operation in future.”
