Proposed school age range increase for The Acorns Primary and Nursery School
6 March 2017Consultation commenced today, Monday 6 March, on the Council’s proposals to increase the age range of Acorns Primary and Nursery School, Ellesmere Port.
The proposal aims to ensure that the Council meets its obligation to ensure a sufficiency of high quality, locally provided early years education and childcare for two year olds. The Council is making the proposal at the request of the Governing Body of The Acorns Primary and Nursery School which believes the school is best placed to make this provision locally.
The informal public consultation period will run for four weeks from Monday 6 March to Sunday 2 April March 2017.
An open consultation event is scheduled to be held at the school on 14 March 2017 3pm - 6pm.
If the outcome of the consultation processes is positive it is hoped the age change will be able to take effect from September 2017.
Cllr Nicole Meardon, Cabinet Member for Children and Families: “Ensuring all of our children and young people are supported to get the best start in life is one of our top priorities. This includes increasing primary school provision to ensure we have the right number of school places in the right locations to meet the needs of a growing population, whilst at the same time, supporting parental choice.”
