9 December 2020This week new messages have been put in place, on bollards, lampposts and bins to welcome shoppers back to Northwich, and remind everyone to stay careful and remember face coverings and social distancing.Northwich BID, The Town Council and Barons Quay are making sure there is a warm welcome waiting for shoppers in Northwich this year. Four sparkling trees are dotted around the town the festive lights in the main streets are joined by Christmas lights at Barons Quay. Councillor Karen Shore, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, said: “Happy Christmas Northwich, this may be a very different Christmas but carefully we can still celebrate and stay safe.” Northwich BID Project Manager Adam Gerrard is delighted that many shops and businesses are now able to welcome customers back: “The government’s announcement regarding the easing of some restrictions is a big boost to a lot of our retailers who will now be able to take advantage of the Christmas shopping window over the coming weeks. “It also gives customers even more of an opportunity to shop local and support local businesses during this festive period which is so important this year. Shops and stores have shown resilience and versatility to find new ways of reaching people through initiatives like Click & Collect and home deliveries but being able to serve customers on their premises will be a massive boost. “People planning on visiting Northwich can rest assured that businesses are taking every safety precaution at the moment, and collectively the town can’t wait to see more people returning to the high street this month. “However, if people want to shop local without venturing into town then I would urge them to join our new Facebook group which is full of deals, updates and gift ideas from town centre businesses. You can become a member today at https://www.facebook.com/groups/northwichtown/.” | |
