Golden Spanner approved garage scheme gets a new look

1 February 2016

Motor traders from across Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East have attended an event to relaunch the new look Trading Standards Approved Garage scheme - known as the Golden Spanner.

Delegates from the motor trade from small, independent garages to large dealerships took part in the event which included a demonstration of the new website for the scheme.

By joining the scheme local businesses demonstrate a commitment to fair trading and customer care and in return Trading Standards officers work closely with the businesses to make it easier for them to understand their responsibilities.

Trading Standards has a key role in both tackling rogue traders and helping honest, reputable businesses to thrive.

The Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Community, Cllr Mark Henesy said: “The Golden Spanner scheme has been running since 1998 and is one of the longest running trade approval schemes in the country.

Cheshire West is keen to promote a fair deal for all its residents and this scheme is aimed at taking away any concerns people may have about dealing with garages.

Consumers can be confident of quality workmanship and top class customer care from the moment they walk through the door or make their first appointment.

“I am delighted that the Cheshire West and Chester Council is continuing to offer reassurance to car owners with the highly successful and popular Golden Spanner brand.” For more details on the scheme visit the new website: www.goldenspanner.com
