Council announces multi million pound investment in Moss Farm sports facility

11 March 2019

Cheshire West and Chester Council aims to improve the health and wellbeing of residents in mid Cheshire by investing £2m into redeveloping Moss Farm.

The Council wants to enhance and improve the site over the next three years so that it caters for a wide range of sporting activities. It aims to provide a multi-purpose sports facility which can be used by the whole community and cater for the sporting needs of everyone.

Initial improvements will be made to the changing facilities, access and car parking facilities, with the funding coming from the capital programme.

Additional funding will also be sought from national sporting governing bodies to complement the investment which has been made by the Council and further enhance the site in addition to engaging with the users of Moss Farm, local residents and interested groups to help inform how the project develops.

Cllr Louise Gittins, Cabinet Member for Communities and Wellbeing, said: “The Council recognises the valuable contribution that Moss Farm plays in the health and wellbeing of residents in the mid Cheshire area.

“The Council is focused on helping our residents to thrive. Residents who are offered the opportunities and facilities to take part in sport and exercise can improve their health and wellbeing.

“For some time now, users have highlighted the need for investment in the site. We are investing in Moss Farm and will engage with other bodies to see if our investment can be matched with financial assistance from others. Our aim is to make Moss Farm a state of the art multi-purpose outdoor sports facility.”
