13 December 2016

There will be changes to Cheshire West and Chester Council’s libraries opening times during the festive period.

All libraries will be closed on Saturday 24 December and will remain closed for the bank holidays on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 December.

In the period between Christmas and New Year, six libraries will be available for library customers – Chester, Ellesmere Port, Frodsham, Neston, Northwich and Winsford will be fully open on Wednesday 28, Thursday 29, and Friday 30 December.  All other libraries will remain closed.

All libraries will be closed on Saturday 31 December and will remain closed on Monday 2 January for the bank holiday.

The Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, Councillor Louise Gittins said: “Six of our libraries, across the authority, will be open as usual during the festive period but don’t forget that you can search, reserve and renew items on-line, at any time of the day or night, on the council website.  You can also find out more about the wide range of eResources available.  A 24 hour telephone line for renewals is available too, by calling 0845 148 0 148.” In addition, in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Northwich, Winsford, Frodsham and Neston libraries on Wednesday 28, Thursday 29 and Friday 30 December, there will be staff from the Council’s Customer Services Team offering basic information and a selection of services.

All libraries will open again as usual from Tuesday 3 January 2017 with the exception of Malpas, which will re-open on Tuesday 10 January 2017.
