15 June 2017

Cheshire West and Chester Council is pleased to announce the completion of the first phase of conservation and repair works to Northwich library.

This Grade II Listed building has undergone substantial structural repairs to stabilise and extend the lifespan of this much-loved building.

In conjunction with its partners, Qwest Services and ENGIE, the Council has carried out a programme of works which included replacing structural timber members, replacing corroded iron fixings with new stainless steel fixings, rebuilding brick infill panels and rendering.

The Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Well-being, Councillor Louise Gittins said: “The Council would like to thank the library users, the local shop owners and Northwich residents for their co-operation during these works.

“Consideration will now be given to a further schedule of work required to maintain this historic building.”
