Views invited on playing pitch provision
11 February 2016Cheshire West and Chester Council has launched a consultation to carry out a comprehensive review of the borough’s playing pitch provision.
The consultation will take into account all outdoor sport facilities, including those for football, rugby, cricket, hockey and artificial pitch provision, and will provide up to date information on existing and future needs in terms of quality, quantity and location.
The process has been managed by a steering group including representatives from the Council and key national governing bodies for sport including Sport England, Active Cheshire and Brio Leisure.
The results of the review have been brought together to form a draft strategy, which when adopted, will help shape the Council’s planning provision for the next 10 years.
The consultation aims to capture the views of residents, clubs and any other individuals or organisations using a questionnaire.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Cabinet Member for Culture Leisure and Wellbeing, said: “The information the draft Strategy has provided will serve as a key evidence base to inform future strategic planning and investment in sport and recreation facilities across the borough.
“We would like to hear your views and are consulting on the draft strategy over the next eight weeks. I would urge anyone with an interest in pitch provision to take the time to complete the questionnaire.” www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/playingpitchstrategy
The formal consultation period runs until 5 April, 2016.
