New picnic and seating facilities at Rivacre Valley country park
10 January 2017New picnic and seating facilities are available at Rivacre Valley country park, thanks to the dedication of local volunteers, a windfall from a national scheme and Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Greenspaces Team.
The Friends of Rivacre Valley were awarded the top amount of £12,000 in the Tesco Bags of Help Scheme, which included a vote on by local shoppers.
The picnic and seating facilities are made from a recycled plastic and will provide visitors with suitable resting places and additional places to picnic in the park. As well as the seating, the group were also able to use the funding to install a bird feeding station that is now positioned near the car park.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Wellbeing, Councillor Louise Gittins said: “These new facilities are the result of a commitment to the county park by the Friends of Rivacre Valley. Everyone has worked incredibly hard to make this happen.
“A huge thank must go to local Tesco’s shoppers who voted on a short list of projects and decided that Rivacre Valley was the most worthy of the top amount to be funded by Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme.”
