Local young people elect new UK Members of Parliament

28 February 2019

Young people from across west Cheshire have taken part in recent elections. They have voted for two new members of the UK Youth Parliament.

Liam Foster, aged 14 from Rudheath, has been elected as the new member to represent young people in the borough. Emma Bloor, aged 16 from Hartford, has been elected as the deputy member.

Councillor Nicole Meardon, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: “I am delighted for Liam and Emma. I look forward to supporting them in their new roles as they use their elected voice to bring about social change.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to our outgoing member Jess Leigh. Jess has been a brilliant ambassador for young people across west Cheshire.” Liam and Emma will work alongside our existing UK Youth Parliament Member Tommy Wallis and Deputy Member Aimee Morris. They will organise events and projects, run campaigns and influence decision makers on the issues that matter most to young people.

Our new members will work closely with all young people involved with the Cheshire West and Chester Council Youth Senate.

All members of the UK Youth Parliament have the opportunity to meet once a year at the Annual Sitting in the House of Commons.
