Cheshire West and Chester Council's Local Plan provides planning guidance for the borough until 2030

8 December 2017

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Local Plan provides the overall vision, strategic objectives, spatial strategy and strategic planning policies for the borough until 2030. The Local Plan (Part One) was adopted in 2015 and has established Green Belt boundaries, the number of new homes to be built and how much employment land should be provided.

The Local Plan (Part Two) Land Allocations and Detailed Policies Publication and associated documents were approved for public consultation by Cabinet on 29 November. The role of the Part Two plan is to provide additional detail to the Part One policies and identifying land to meet the needs already identified.

It contains a range of policies from allocating sites for employment to setting out the approach to electric vehicle charging points.  As this is the pre-submission consultation stage, the consultation is only seeking views on whether the Plan meets legal requirements and national tests to ensure it has been positively prepared, justified, effective and consistent with national policy.

Councillor Brian Clarke, Cabinet Member Economic Development and Infrastructure said: “I am delighted that we have reached this stage in the preparation of the Local Plan (Part Two).  This is an important document that will ensure that development in the borough takes place in a sustainable manner and new development protects our environment and the health and well-being of residents.” Consultation starts on Monday 11 December until 5pm on Monday 29 January 2018.

Comments can be submitted online, by email or by post, with further details about the Local Plan available on the Council’s website.
