New courses at Ellesmere Port Work Zone

Ellesmere Port Work Zone has recently introduced a range of new courses to it's programme to help support local residents into long term, sustainable employment. The new courses are as follows:


Zentangle

Do you enjoy art or a bit of colouring to help you focus and de-stress. Zentangle is the new doodle art form which is easy to pick up and you can produce impressive pieces of artwork without a lot of experience or drawing ability. Zentangle has also been proved to help with focus and stress reduction helping you to problem solve better and give your brain a break. In this course we will cover; Basic Zentangles, using shading and colour to give your doodles depth, producing a monogram letter, Zentangling on a 3D object, and producing a Zentangle personal mandala. No previous drawing experience is needed just an enjoyment of arts and crafts for relaxation


Words for Wellbeing

This two week course introduces mindfulness techniques for wellbeing, improves confidence, verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and improves resilience and creativity. The sessions will be delivered as a progressive programme building social and communication skills, writing skills and personal confidence and wellbeing tools. Previous experience is not necessary, spelling and grammar is also not marked during the course.


Positive Steps

In order to move forward learners may require assistance to focus on their own strengths, weaknesses, qualities and skills related to a particular sector/workplace. The three workshops within this programme of learning will assist the individual to career plan their move into the sector of their choice, become familiar with ‘key’ industry related wording, unravel the requirements of job descriptions and person specifications and their relationship and use within interviews. 


Contact Centre Operations

This course will cover the principles of contact centre interactions focusing on a variety of mediums including telephone, letter, email and on-line chat. Amongst other areas covered the programme will cover working and communicating successfully in a team, interpreting job descriptions and person specifications for contact centre roles, customer care and telephone interactions. There will be guaranteed interviews with a local employer for all applicants that successfully complete the course and gain the qualification.


Work Club

The Work Club offers one-to-one support applying for jobs both online and through application forms and help with creating your CV and cover letters. Free internet access is available with printing and photocopying. We have resources including all the latest Job Centre vacancies, local newspapers, access to jobs online and much more. Our experienced and qualified staff will support you with all aspects of finding work, offering individual advice and support from an impartial source.
