West Cheshire Sixth Formers celebrate A-level success
21 August 2017Sixth formers in West Cheshire celebrated A-level success on Thursday 17 August.
A total of over 1,800 students sat the examinations from 14 schools, academies and colleges across West Cheshire.
Pupils have returned an overall pass rate of just over 98 percent compared with 98 percent nationally.
At the highest A* grade the West Cheshire results were 13 percent of all awards, compared to the national figure of 8 percent.
And 26 percent of students gained a higher grade A* - A pass compared to 26 percent nationally.
Councillor Nicole Meardon, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: “The anxious wait for results is over for the young people involved.
"I would like to thank the pupils, teachers, all staff and parents for all their hard work and send my best wishes to the young people as they choose their next step of further education, apprenticeship or employment.”
“We do recognise, however, that this may not be a time of celebration for everyone. We are here to offer support and guidance for those students whose results may not be all they had hoped for.”
