Council shows support for NHS staff and key workers

26 March 2020

Iconic landmarks in Chester will be illuminated in a blue to show support for all NHS staff during the current Coronavirus outbreak, with the help of Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Street Lighting team.

Chester’s Eastgate clock face, the Town Hall and the New Gate Bridge will be illuminated in a blue light from Thursday 26 March at 8pm until Monday 30 March.

Councillor Karen Shore, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, said:  “We really wanted to do something to show our appreciation for the hard work being done by all NHS staff during the current Coronavirus outbreak.”

The blue lighting has been arranged to support a national on-line campaign asking everyone to show their support for NHS staff at 8pm on Thursday 26 March.
